Help Celebrate World Wish Day

World Wish Day is a worldwide celebration of the day a leukemia patient named Chris got his wish to be police officer for a day, inspiring the founding of Make-A-Wish® and the global wish-granting movement it created. Since April 29, 1980, more than 280,000 children with life-threatening medical conditions around the world to have their most heartfelt wishes fulfilled by Make-A-Wish. It is a day on which we invite people everywhere to rededicate themselves to support the life-changing act of granting wishes.

Your local chapter of Make-A-Wish is located in Halifax. Make-A-Wish Atlantic Provinces would like to invite you to have some fun with us and do your part to help us celebrate World Wish Day! We’re asking restaurants, pubs, and hotels to join together to donate a portion of their dessert sales on Friday, May 4th to help fund the wishes of local children.

There will be radio support from Newcap stations and point-of-sale materials will be provided in advance to help promote the event and encourage your patrons with our tagline “Life is uncertain, eat dessert first!”

The participating location that raises the most funds will win a plaque & bragging rights as this year’s Sweet Dreams Challenge Winner! It’s all in the name of fun and raising funds to make wishes come true for sick kids in Atlantic Canada!

A wish brings a child and their family closer in a time of endless doctor visits, long days of treatment and extended hospital stays. When a child’s one true wish comes true, it provides them with a renewed sense of hope, strength, and joy enabling the child to fight harder.
