This program evolved from the efforts of committed Make-A-Wish supporters in offices across Canada who had great success in raising funds in the workplace. They requested that their funds be specifically earmarked towards the cost of granting a wish for a child with a life-threatening illness. Upon completion of the Wish, the Make-A-Wish Chapter ensured that these people received follow up information on the child's Wish. Learning about the joy that their gift had brought to a family had a significant impact on these people. The success of this concept has evolved into our Canadian Adopt-A-Wish program.

Adopt-A-Wish enables employees of a company or business to join together and design a fundraising event or an ongoing workplace campaign that fits the needs of their particular work environment. We are constantly amazed and delighted at the variety of ways in which employees raise money. Staff support from the Make-A-Wish Foundation is always available, and this packet is full of ideas, one of which may be right for your company.

The Adopt-A-Wish program is not only for companies and businesses - it is available to any individual or group who want the opportunity to make a difference in a child's life.

How to participate in the Adopt-A-Wish program

Anyone can Adopt-A-Wish!
An Adopt-A-Wish Sponsor contributes to the cost of an entire Wish with either a cash or in-kind contribution of $10,000.

Unique Program Features:

• The program attracts participation throughout the organization. All levels and divisions of the company and even clients, customers and suppliers can become involved.
• A fundraising target of $10,000 is a reasonable sum for a group to underwrite the cost of one wish.
• Ninety percent of the Adopt-A-Wish dollars raised will directly support wish expenses.
• Donors will see direct results from their contribution.
• Donors are left with the knowledge that they have personally impacted a special child and family.

There are many benefits to being a part of the Adopt-A-Wish program:

• Engaging in fundraising activities helps to position your company as a socially conscious organization in your community.
• Adopt-A-Wish promotes company-wide involvement and personal rewards for employees, sales representatives, stakeholders and customers.
• The company or individual will receive a beautiful plaque with a photo of your assigned Wish Child to be displayed wherever you choose.
• Your whole group is left with the knowledge that you have personally impacted very special families and children within your community.
