Atlantic Lottery Corporation lends a helping hand to Make-A-Wish in time of need
MONCTON, NB - Within hours of learning that Make-A-Wish donation boxes had been stolen from local businesses, Atlantic Lottery Corporation contacted Make-A-Wish Atlantic Provinces with a donation of $30,000 to help fill the gap of the lost revenue.

"Helping the Foundation is the right thing to do," said Michelle Carinci, President and CEO of ALC. "It also reflects the values of our 650 employees. At the heart of our organization are employees with a passion for supporting worthwhile causes."

The chocolate box donation program is a fundraiser for Make-A-Wish Atlantic Provinces to help raise money to grant wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses. Recent thefts of the donation boxes have left the Atlantic wish-granting organization dismayed.

"What made the thefts all the more devastating for us is the fact that the money was contributed by hard working Atlantic Canadians who, with their hearts, gave what they could afford without looking for any thanks," said Jane Henson, Executive Director of Make-A-Wish Atlantic Provinces. "But it was also money that has been taken away from our ability to grant wishes, and that is very sad. When we heard that the Atlantic Lottery Corporation wanted to help us out, we were reminded once again about the generous spirit of Atlantic Canadians."

"The Make-A-Wish story inspired us, and we hope this donation will encourage other Atlantic Canadian businesses to match or exceed our contribution," said Michelle Carinci. "We want Make-A-Wish to be able to continue to do what they do best - put smiles on the faces of children who deserve to know happiness."
