Base Camp - 2009 Expedition

Base Camp expedition
The expedition, which will be held from April 21 to May 10, 2010, aims to collect an amount of $200,000.
The point of departure is the small village of Lukla, located east of Katmandu (the capital city of Nepal), with the expedition ending at the base camp at an altitude of 5,380 m.
This trek is an opportunity for a group of 20 generous trekkers, ordinary men and women, to do their utmost for the wishes of many children to come true. Inspired by the courage demonstrated by young Quebecers, and their families, who struggle against a life-threatening disease, they are thoroughly committed to spare no effort to collect the funds required to make their dreams a reality.
This adventure is an opportunity to make a concrete contribution to help Québec kids who face a life-threatening disease. Such a trek on Everest is very much like reaching for the stars in order to catch them for these kids and their families. Kids are so very important in all our lives and we need to do everything in our power for them to hang on to their magic.
The Foundation has entrusted François Langlois, a well-known businessman and reputed climber, with the very important task of acting as expedition head. François Langlois, a financial consultant, has made a name for himself in that industry over the past 18 years. He has almost completed the Seven Summits Crown (climbing the highest peak on each continent) namely: Mount Aconcagua in South America, Mount McKinley in North America, the Kilimandjaro in Africa, Elbrouz in Europe, Carstensz in Oceania, Kosciuszko in Australia and Mount Everest in Nepal. To complete his crown, all he needs to do is climb Mount Vinson, in Antarctica.
François has the necessary expertise and know-how to safely guide our intrepid trekkers. To see the Everest is an experience in itself. Sharing the experience with 20 like-minded people who are committed to giving it their all – heart, body and soul – in such a project can only drive one to surpass oneself.
