The St. Valentine’s Day Hair Massacure® is a fun and heart-warming event that began in 2002 in Edmonton, Alberta when a little girl named Kali suffered her third hair loss due to aggressive rounds of chemotherapy. Her father decided to shave his own head in support and encouraged 48 co-workers at Canada Post to do the same.

For the past three years, Make-A-Wish^® Atlantic Provinces has held the St. Valentine’s Day Hair Massacure at the Halifax Shopping Centre. Participants have raised pledges, and some have even dyed their hair blue, or pink, in advance of the event. Together, participants in Atlantic Canada have raised enough money to grant wishes for five very special Wish Children.

In February 2010, we’re inviting supporters to join in the fun by shaving their heads in support of Make-A-Wish Atlantic Provinces. Our 4th annual St. Valentine’s Day Hair Massacure will be held on February 13, 2010 at the Halifax Shopping Centre on Mumford Road from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. With your support, we hope to raise enough funds for 2 wishes in 2010!

Or, if shaving your head is not your style, you can still take part by having your hair cut at the event and donating your hair to make wigs for cancer patients – as long as your hair is at least 8” long.

Or, if you do not want to lose your locks, you can still pledge a participant or pledge the event!

Make a Difference by Raising Donations!
Every participant is asked to collect donations to help fund wishes. All participants who raise more than $250 will be automatically entered in a raffle draw, on the basis of one entry for every $250 raised. Sony electronic items will be awarded to the winners of the raffle draw.
