4/01/2011 - 18/01/2011

The expedition, which will take place from January 4 to 18, 2011, aims to raise $50,000.
The route chosen to reach the peak is the Lemosho
Inspired by the strength and courage of young children from Quebec who are struggling against a disease that threatens their very life, a group of climbers is banking on its creativity to raise funds to grant the wishes of these very special children.
Climbing the Kilimanjaro is akin to reaching for the stars to catch them one by one for the children and their families. Children are so very important in our lives and we must do everything in our power to help them keep their magic.
The Make-A-Wish® / Fais-Un-VoeuMD Québec Foundation, over the past few years, has gained the necessary expertise to organize climbs of the tallest summits in the world. Among the expeditions organized to date, it is worthwhile mentioning Mount Aconcagua in South America, the Kilimanjaro in Africa and the Everest base camp located in Nepal. Among our close collaborators, Mr. François Langlois will have participated in all of the Foundation’s climbs. In 2001, he reached the summit of Mount Everest and with his scheduled conquest, sometime soon, of Mount Vinson in Antarctica, he will have completed the Seven Summits Crown, consisting in climbing the tallest summit of each continent. His expertise in mountain climbing and his knowledge of high altitude are a precious asset for the Foundation.
For the 2011 expedition, we will be calling upon the services of Tusker Trail. They have more than 33 years’ experience with Mount Kilimanjaro. Their professional guides will escort the group in their trek. Their expertise accounts for a success rate of 98% of climbers reaching the summit. Many routes are available to reach the peak and for that purpose we will be taking the Lemosho, a longer route but one that allows for a better acclimatization to altitude. Our Sporting Events coordinator, Stephanie Bazot, will be guiding the climbers in their preparations and their training, and will take part in the expedition with the group.
