Make-A-Wish® Canada Grants Wish for Star Wars Themed Room
Sean’s surprise wish day room unveiling was complete with Star Wars characters!
September 23, 2011 – Georgetown, ON – Seven-year-old Sean had his one true magical wish for a Star Wars themed bedroom granted to him on Friday, September 23rd. Inspired by the walls at Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children, where he spent time during treatments, Sean believed that if his bedroom could be decorated like a Star Wars spaceship with Anakin, Yoda and Darth Vadar painted on the walls – that would be a wish come true!An avid Star Wars fan, Sean’s favourite thing to do is move around the house like the characters and act out different scenes from the movie. He’s so excited about his new room that he told us, “Now that my room is done, I don’t want to leave it!”
“Watching the imagination, amazement and wonder of a young child reminds you of what being a child is all about,” says Sean’s mom Suzanne. “Seeing the excitement in Sean’s eyes and whole body as he talks about his room fills both, his father, Jim and I with a joy that words cannot describe.”
As a further surprise for Sean’s magical wish day, his favourite Star Wars characters, Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker, volunteers from the 501st Legion, were on-site to join in the celebration and unveiling of his new room. Following the wish day party, the 501st Legion also made a cheque presentation to Make-A-Wish® to help support more wishes like Sean’s.
A special thanks to the 501st Legion for their participation in Sean’s room unveiling, and to our corporate supporters Ikea Canada and Sony for their support and contributions to this special room makeover.
