  Thuy is an intelligent and very witty young woman who has been in intense physical and cognitive therapy for the past two years after a stroke from an aneurysm left her paralyzed. During her long hospitalization, Thuy along, with her loving mother and sister spent many hours watching the hit TV fashion show, “What Not To Wear”. The show quickly became part of Thuy’s road to recovery and actually helped the family bond and grow stronger in this difficult time. Thanks to the generosity of Innovapost, Make-A-Wish Eastern Ontario was able to fly Thuy to New York in February of 2007 for her dream wish - to meet the stars of the show, fashion gurus Stacey and Clinton and attend a taping. At the studio the ladies were directed to the set where we they sat on THE couches (the same ones seen on the show!!!). When Clinton entered, the three women hugged in excitement and Thuy's mom cried tears of joy. Clinton chatted with them and soon Stacey, who is vivacious and funny, joined the group. Thuy had plenty of opportunity to ask questions and both Clinton and Stacey gave her advice about what to wear and where to shop - and of course, what not to wear. They generously gave Thuy's sister advice as well, then the girls asked about fashion tips for their mom. Clinton and Stacey had a ball with her! Thuy and her sister had a great laugh but Mom was a real sport! Stacey and Clinton autographed photos for each of the three ladies and gave them an autographed copy of their book. Thuy also received their email addresses in case she had any more questions. After about 45 minutes the cast had to start filming the show. The family watched in the production area and during breaks, Clinton and Stacey came to ask Thuy what she thought. After watching the filming the family got back into the stretch limo for a spot of shopping at H & M, Macy's, Forever 21 and other places the pros recommended for Thuy. Seeing Evan enjoying himself was at times, very emotional. Although the bulk of our time was spent enjoying all of the Disney attractions, Evan would probably tell you that visiting the Atlantic ocean was his most favourite part of the trip. To see him playing with his dad and his brother, so carefree and happy, was the greatest reward! What a huge contrast to watching him be tethered to an IV all those times for chemotherapy.
