Fourteen-year-old Alacin F. of Lunenberg, Massachusetts is an imaginative, outgoing, and curious young woman. Despite the challenges posed by her cancer treatments for Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia, Alacin remains a very active and energetic teen. When two Make-A-Wish^® volunteers met with Alacin and her family, she eagerly expressed her wish to travel to West Edmonton, Canada to go on a shopping spree at the West Edmonton Mall - the biggest mall she has ever heard of!

On a cold winter morning in February, a stylish limo pulled into Alacin’s driveway to kick off her wish adventure. The limo whisked Alacin and her family off to Logan Airport in Boston. The wish family flew from Boston to Toronto then on to Edmonton where a rental car was waiting for them. Alacin and her family checked into their hotel and prepared for Alacin’s first full day of shopping! In addition to all of the shopping Alacin had lined up, the family was also able to enjoy the world’s largest indoor amusement park, the Deep Sea Derby, a sea lion show, adventure golf, and ice skating at the Ice Palace. Alacin and her mother were also treated to a salon manicure courtesy of SpaStation.

Upon returning to Massachusetts, Alacin told her wish team that her trip was “incredible”! They were amazed at how much the Mall had to offer and were now completely exhausted. Alacin loved the water park and Magnolia BBQ. It was the best birthday ever! Alacin and her family will have memories to cherish for a long time to come.
